Ryan Patrick, Head Coach
Ryan grew up playing his youth, AAA, and Junior hockey in Pittsburgh before moving on to playing for the U18 Tier 1 National Champion Shattuck St-Mary’s in Minnesota. Ryan attended Penn State University to continue his playing career while earning a degree in Recreation Management. After graduation he turned to professional hockey working with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Hockey Operations Department and their minor league affiliate the Wheeling Nailers as an Assistant Coach and Assistant Director of Hockey Operations. From there Ryan was involved in youth hockey coaching AAA in Pittsburgh and the Head Coach of the Sewickley Academy. Ryan was the Hockey Director for Penn State University for 8 years, running youth programs, camps, and teams. He has served as a State Vice President, coach, and evaluator for the USA Hockey Mid Am District. Ryan currently works for Black Bear Sports Group as the Director of Adult Hockey. Through his life in hockey Ryan credits his many experiences of playing, working, or watching some of the greatest coaches. Playing for Andy Murray at Shattuck, watching Scotty Bowman and Badger Bob Johnson as a child, working under Herb Brooks while with the Penguins, and most important growing up watching and learning from his father Craig having influenced his coaching style.
